Telling people
Posted on Sep 27, 2007 under health |Yesterday I thought I would be nice and let my teacher know that I’m diabetic and that if I start acting weird call someone. Not that I plan on it, but you need to be safe.
So after telling him this, he got very concerned and asked if I would be okay and if I needed to leave class and just over reacted a little to it. I guess I’m not really use to how people really react as I haven’t told many people and the ones I have told already know someone with diabetes.
I’m just surprised at the fact that teachers do not have training in how to handle diabetes. What the signs of a low or high blood sugar are or anything! You think with how many people have this that it would be something schools would look into.
Also I find it interesting that the college I attend has rules stating there is no eating in class. I heard that rule does not apply to me, but I haven’t found proof yet. It would be nice to know as I really don’t want to leave the class because I have to eat something.
