A old grain good for diabetics?
Posted on Nov 16, 2007 under General diabetes information |I just watched this video about a grain called Salvia Columbariae, an ancient plant used by the ancient Aztecs for medicinal purposes. New research has suggested that this grain can be added to foods to help diabetics. It helps reduce blood pressure, has a large amount of fiber, omega 3’s and helps to regulate blood sugar.
I think I may have to look into this as it also reduces hunger so you don’t eat as much, always a good thing when you are trying to lose weight. I love bread with alot of stuff in it so I’m excited about it. I know it’s sold in health food stores, but I’m kinda hoping walmart has it so I don’t have to drive 2 hours for it.

Hello! Be sure to post further on this grain, I am not only diabetic, but I have a blog similar to yours, about diabetes type 2 and how to manage and beat it.
I think the hardest thing about having this disease is giving up on old eating habits, I also am a real carb addict. You have a very nice blog!

Thank you.
I have actually found that I eat more carbs now. I just try to stay away from the sweets. I think that was my downfall.
